Note: Editing the registry is dangerous and one small mistake can cause major errors with your computer and even cause it not to start. To avoid this problem you can force Windows to us GDI+ mode instead of automatically using DirectX but it requires a registry edit. Of course the problem is not common today with all the high resolution displays available today, however some people still use outdated displays. Unfortunately this can cause a problem as some displays do not support this method. If the DirectX Exclusive mode is used, this also means that the progressive scan mode is also used. When you try to run a slideshow in Windows Photo Gallery, Windows will use the Windows Experience Index ratings to determine if it should use the DirectX Exclusive mode or the GDI mode to draw the images. The pictures in the slideshow just won’t display. When you spend time editing photos and then creating an awesome slideshow in Windows Photo Gallery, it is disappointing when the slide doesn’t work.
